Background Information
After a very unfortunate hunting accident there was the usual media reaction, such as radio interviews with some calling for the elimination of rifle hunting in Lehigh County. Immediately the LVFC provided this radio ad to show that the hunting community is comprised of mostly responsible individuals that are constantly trying to prevent incidents like this one. We received a very good response from hunters who communicated their gratitude after hearing this ad.

Hunting accidents are infrequent because most hunters in Pennsylvania know what they’re doing, and exercise great care, especially with deer rifles. Recently, however, a person was seriously injured by a stray bullet fired by a deer hunter. This injury was very serious and could have been much worse. There’s a simple rule that would eliminate this kind of accident, and assure the safety of all persons in or near hunting areas. Hunters should never fire a rifle unless there is ground behind the target. Never fire when there is only trees or open air or sky behind the target. Always be sure there is ground behind the target. That way, if you miss, the bullet will hit the ground, not anything or anyone else. If you are a hunter, please be sure to follow this simple rule. Safety first – always safety first. Hunting is a privilege, and we must protect the public – first and foremost.
