Background Information           

This was one of the most powerful messages to date. It showed the insanity of "gun free zones" and the risk to the students and faculty. This ad gave the whole story behind the shootings, something many in the press failed to do. The ad was in response to the attack on the Second Amendment presented by many in the press. It was unfortunate but due to a lack of funds, the ad could run on only one station.

The horrible kills at Virginia Tech illustrated perfectly the insanity of gun control.  The University had lobbied the Virginia Legislature to allow the University to ban all guns on campus. Even the Campus Police and Security Guards were disarmed. So when the killer began his grisly business, no one could stop him. Gun control at Virginia Tech was total and perfect - except for one thing: criminals and madmen do not obey the law. The FBI tells us that citizens use guns to defend themselves an estimated two million times per year. Usually no shots are fired. The presence of a gun scares the criminals away. But at Virginia Tech, a madman who had been charged with stalking, charged with arson, committed for mental evaluation and judged insane, was coddled and pampered by the same University that disarmed everybody on campus.  If you don't own a gun, get one. Learn to use it safely, and maybe one day you may help prevent a crime.
