2006 April Guns

War for Independence

LVFC 60 Second Gun Ad

April nineteenth marks the two hundred thirty-first anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord – the start of the American Revolution – our war for independence.  On that day in Seventeen Seventy-five, the British sent troops from Boston to Concord to seize a store of the colonists’ guns.  Thus the American Revolution started over the right to keep and bear arms, a natural right of all free people which was later affirmed in our Bill of Rights.  Today, law-abiding citizens have the legal right to carry guns for self-defense whenever they want in all but two States – Wisconsin and Illinois.  And, it’s only a matter of time before those two join the other forty-eight.  If you feel that you may need to carry a gun for self-defense, you have that right; but you need a permit issued by the County Sheriff.  A permit is easy to get – just inquire at the Sheriff’s office.  However, you do not need a permit to buy a gun for your home.  There are many gun dealers in the Valley who can help answer your questions about firearms, and how to keep and use them safely.
