Radio Ads

The Lehigh Valley Firearms Coalition (LVFC), with the help of one of its members, The Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society, has been running radio ads for close to 8 years. LVFC spokesman John Brinson has created dozens of ads since 1999, the first year they started.

The two current radio stations keep the potential listening audience quite large. WLEV FM reaches as far east as High Bridge, NJ and as far south as King of Prussia, Pa.  WAEB FM reaches as far west as Lebanon, Pa. and well into the Pocono Mountains in the north. Overall the radio ads reach several million potential listeners.

As it is impossible to list every ad, the Coalition is happy to provide these recent ads as samples.  Each radio ad is 60 minutes and the content is directed toward current events. The advantage of a radio ad is its flexibility. The LVFC has the ability to cover any given subject that the times demand. Now you can listen to some of the actual ads.  The green links will lead you to a page with both text copy and sound. The blue links will lead you to a text copy of the ad.

Why do we run radio ads?

When some nut goes out and performs a mass killing, have you ever noticed the news coverage?  Usually within a short time there is a TV reporter interviewing Senators Schumer or Feinstein. After hearing how the elimination of your Second Amendment Rights is the answer to prevent future occurrences, the conversation will shift to a spokesman from the Brady Campaign.

Sometimes, if we are lucky, after 15 minutes of loading the airwaves with anti gun propaganda, the program will allow a spokesman from the NRA or Gun Owners of America to have a minute or two to "balance the conversation".

From MediaWatch, here are some statistics regarding the coverage of ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN. The coverage includes the nightly news broadcasts and morning shows and how they covered gun control issues. There is no doubt about it. Our views are very rarely given an opportunity by the major news organizations.  Our adversaries are given lots of free air time, but our points of view are doled out in very small doses. For our side to be heard, we have to pay for it.  Unfortunately, in life, one must work with the hand he is dealt. The opposition gets free air time but we have to pay advertising fees for our voices to be heard.
